Elizabeth Ann Reed

Elizabeth Ann Reed was born on April 3, 1942 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Charlotte Samuel and Elmer Lewis. She departed this life on Wed, December 2, 2009 at home on 10 Ridgecrest Drive, Cheshire, CT. Elizabeth, affectionately known as Lib, graduated high school in 1959 from the Girls High school. Lib dedicated her life to raising her children and her five granddaughters. Her greatest joy in life was the love, care, and compassion she had for them. In addition she provided a childcare service for family and friends alike. She also cared for her mother. God truly blessed her to be one of the world's best caregivers. A very caring, and generous person, Lib was an excellent seamstress. She made everyone's wedding and graduation dresses in the family and for friends as well as their curtains. Lib was also an electrician. People describe her as a jack of all trades. She touched everyone she came in contact with. Ms. Reed is survived by her ex-husbands Melvin and John; her two daughters Lisa and Michele; her son in law Oliver Matthews and daughter- in- law Angela Johnson; her 9 grandchildren, Tony, Olivia, Fallon, Latoya, Asia, Dominique, Chelsea, China, and John; and her great grand daughter, Zaniyah. Her six siblings, Brenda, Frances, Oliver, Wilda, Joyce, and Denise; aunts Lee Hobbs and Lois Brake; and uncle Jerry; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial service Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
