Elizabeth Ann Stigberg, a resident of Hamden, passed away suddenly January 6, 2011 while on route to the hospital from Whitney Manor, where she was recuperating. Elizabeth was born in Waterbury, CT. March 29, 1935 to Bertel C. and Gertrude McCarthy Stigberg. After graduating from Crosby High School, she attended the University of CT, Post Secretarial School and Parsons School of Design. She was a skilled and valued employee of B. H. Wragge, The Rockefeller Foundation in NYC., and the American Cancer Society in Hawaii. She then was employed at Yale University in the Provost's Office for many years until her retirement. She was predeceased by her brothers, Bertel and Richard Stigberg, and is survived by her sisters, Gertrude Daley of Hanover, NH. and Lucille Kohlberg of Cambridge, MA. She is also survived by her sisters in law, Janet Stigberg of Cheshire, CT and Shirley Stigberg of FL, her godchildren, Brita LaBrecque of FL., Richard Daley of NH, and many cousins, neices and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Church of St. Rita, Whitney Ave. Hamden, on Tuesday January 11, at 11 am. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

  1. hi my sincere sympathy on betty ann’s passing. i lived at 64 mansfield av with george miller,his son george from oct l940 till l945 when he remarried and my mother, gertrude browne purchased a house at 153. have many fond memories/pictures of betty & i, also visiting your house, always something going on – loved it. i thought of her a few weeks prior to her passing & was going to look her up on the net. my sympathys to you all. god bless. marilyn browne mastin
