Elizabeth 'Betty' Schaffeld

Elizabeth 'Betty' Schaffeld, 95, of North Haven, wife of the late Joseph Schaffeld, passed away on November 21, 2012. Born in New Haven on November 6, 1917 to the late Harry and Anna Kapooska Romanovsky. Elizabeth leaves her daughter Carol Berube of Wallingford, her grandson, Thomas Berube of Denver, CO, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Anna Radin and her brothers, Peter, John, and Henry Romanovsky. Betty was a lifelong member of the Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church. She sang in the choir and was a member of the sisterhood. Betty was known as an excellent seamstress and wonderful baker. Friends may visit with Betty's family on Saturday, November 24th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, 285 Alden Ave., New Haven. Her Funeral Service will begin in church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden in care of arrangements.
