Elizabeth Pleines Hawken

In New Haven, Dec. 12, 2000, Elizabeth Pleines Hawken, 79, of Treadwell St., Hamden, wife of the late Richard H. Hawken. She was born in New Haven, June 1, 1921 daughter of the late Carl F. and Anne Shannahan Pleines. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Waterbury. Mrs. Hawken was a nurse at Whitney Manor in Hamden for 25 years and retired from the Shirley Frank Foundation in New Haven in 1975. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Hamden and was a volunteer at the Red Cross for many years and the Barn Sale in Hamden. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Woytowich of North Haven, Patricia Velardi of Satellite Beach, FL, Carol Marenholz of Hamden, Barbara Ciolino of West Haven, brothers, Carl Pleines of Hamden, Donald Pleines of Branford and 9 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Betsy Ann Delaney. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday Dec. 15 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a .m.
