Elsie C. Larsen

Wallingford - Elsie C. Larsen, 102 formerly of Horton Ave., Meriden passed away on Monday, January 29 at Masonic Healthcare Center. She was born July 20, 1904 in Meriden a daughter of the late Peter and Johanna Marie (Hansen) Larsen. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1929. Elsie was a surgical nurse at Hartford Hospital, a school nurse for the Connecticut School for Boys and was also a nurse for Dr. Witter and Dr. Durkee in Meriden. She was the oldest member of Center Congregational Church where she was very active. Elsie volunteered for the Red Cross Blood drives from the 1940's through the 1960's. She cared for both of her parents until they passed away. She was a very caring person who will be greatly missed. Elsie is survived by two nieces, Marilyn Roche of Florida, and Sherrill Ford of Wolcott and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Olga Kuhn and Lillian Batten and a niece Dorothy Jones and a nephew Robert Kuhn A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 11:00am at the Center Congregational Church, 474 Broad St., Meriden . The Rev. George H. True will officate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in Elsie's memory may be made the Center Congregational Church, 474 Broad St., Meriden, Ct 06450.
