Elvira “Halli” Nehring, a long-time resident of Meriden, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the age of 86. The youngest of six children, she was born in 1935 in Bock, Germany. She immigrated in 1956 with her husband Ewald and young son to build a life together in the U.S.A. Elvira worked at Eyelet Specialty in Wallingford, and once retired from Eyelet she found joy in providing day care services for their pets as well. An avid gardener, she took great pride in keeping her property well-manicured and delighted in decorating for the holidays. Elvira is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ewald, her sisters; Herta, Gisela, and Helga, and brothers; Richard and Werner. She is survived by her son Uwe Nehring and his wife Patricia of Enumclaw, WA, daughter Rosemary Morin and her husband Matthew of Middletown, CT, grandsons Bradley and his wife Maureen, and Tyson and his girlfriend Lisa, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with Elvira’s family on Thursday July 15 from 4-6 p.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A service celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

  1. Sorry to hear about Elvira’s passing. I worked with Ewald for many years at
    SPECIALTY Metal Fab and was also his neighbor. I lived on Sunset Ave. I visited him and your mom often when your mom was having her bone problems. They were both such sweet people
    They will be sadly missed by all that knew them. My condolences to your family.
