EMMA B. SMITH Emma B. Smith, 98, wife of the late John J. Smith of Melrose Ave., Hamden passed away November 18, at home after a brief illness. She was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late Gottlieb and Emma Chandler Link and had lived in Hamden for 34 years. In her earlier years she was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, the Council of Catholic Women, Woodward School PTA and served as chairlady of the 32nd Ward Republican Party in the New Haven Annex and was employed at the Sargent Co. She is survived by a daughter and her husband; Margaret and Edward Doiron of Mansfield, MO, a daughter; Karen Smith of New Haven, a granddaughter and her husband; Doreen and Anthony DiCrosta of Hamden, and three great-grandchildren; Eric, Kristen and Allison DiCrosta. She was predeceased by 3 brothers; Carl W., Raymond J. and Robert C. Link and 3 sisters Margaret Flynn, Gertrude Bergeron, and Anna Olson. She is survived by her beloved dog ''Barney''. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden at 10 a.m. Friends may call Wed. morning at the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
