Eric S. Demander, Sr.

Eric S. Demander, Sr. , 98, of Woodbridge, husband of the late Signe Demander, passed away on February 14, 2008. He was born in New Haven on September 10, 1909 to the late John and Karen Olson Demander. Eric is survived by his daughter Margit Madison of Woodbridge, and son Eric Demander, Jr. of Lee, ME along with eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Eric owned and ran the Demander Book Bindery in New Haven founded by his father. He was also a renowned violinist, having studied both at The Yale School of Music and abroad in Prague, Czechoslavakia. He performed internationally as a violin soloist, including performances at Carnegie Hall. For years he was the First Violinist with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and also participated in local string ensembles. Eric, Jr: I trust you still remember us. I resided in your home in 1984 briefly before enlisting in the Army. My parents resided with your folks. I remember your dad as a kind and generous man.
