Eric William Mood

In Hamden, Dec. 31, 2004, Eric William Mood of 55 High Meadow Rd., husband of the late Gwen Howell Mood. Born in PA, Dec.30, 1916, he was the son of the late Leonard and Amanda Anderson Mood. A 1938 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Eric received a Master's Degree from Yale University in Public Health in 1942. He was a veteran of WW II with service in Italy and the South Pacific, retiring from the Army Reserve as a Colonel. After the war he returned to Yale as the Director of the Environmental Health Department, retiring after 50 years. He received an Honorary Degree from Upsala College for his work in Environmental Health. He was a member of the World, National and New England Environmental Health Associations. Eric was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church and Mory's Association. He is survived by: a daughter Suzanne and her husband, Gregory Porto of Bethany, a sister, Ruth Mood of Hamden, grandsons, Gregory Porto, Jr. and his fiancee Kathleen Rogers, and Patrick Porto. Funeral Service at Bethesda Lutheran Church, St. Ronan St., New Haven, Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 11 A.M. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden at 2 P.M. Contributions may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church, 305 St. Ronan St., New Haven, CT 06511 or to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
