Ernest Burns, Jr.

Ernest Burns, Jr., 78, of Sandisfield, MA passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Berkshire Rehab. & Skilled Care Center. A son of the late Ernest and Minnie Grant Burns, Sr., Ernest was born in Greenville, SC on August 28, 1932. Ernest is survived by a brother, Rudolph Burns of Washington, NC and sisters Isabelle Lodge of Washington, NC, Polly Trent of West Haven, Eunice Ketschke of New Haven and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ernest was predeceased by a brother, Christopher Burns and sisters, Mary R. Miller, Dorothy Walker, Hazel Hailey and Gardinia Brooks. Ernest was a US Army Veteran, having served for 3 years during the Korean War. He had been employed as a roofer for the Tilo Roofing Co. of Stratford, CT. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven in May, date and time to be announced. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven.
