MERIDEN - Ethel Jordan Pennyman, 85, of 35 Hillside Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Westfield Care and Rehab Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Preach Pennyman. She was born Sept. 6, 1916 in Thomaston, GA and is survived by a son, Eddie L. Pennyman, Sr. and a stepdaughter, Charlene Eleby. She was predeceased by two sisters, Katie Smith and Ollie Holdman and two brothers, Henry Walker and J. W. Worthy. She is also survived by three nieces, Neomi Echols, Jennie Felton and Joane Barron and several other nieces and nephews. She was a beloved and loving grandmother of fifteen: Luether Pennyman of Texas, Diaanah (Faye) Pennyman of Ohio, Robert Pennyman of California, Celestine, Eddie, Victor, Lisa, Brigette, Matthew, Melinda and Richard Pennyman of Connecticut, also Dean Pennyman (deceased), Flora and Jr. Pennyman of Georgia and Pete Pennyman (deceased); also 46 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-gandchildren ; one foster child, David Caldwell of Ohio and a dedicated friend, Nannie Johnson. Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. prior to the service. The Rev. L. Elliot will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
