Ethel P. Schnelle, 96, a resident of The Masonic Home, Wallingford, CT for the past eleven years, formally of New Haven, CT. Daughter of Paul E. and Hattie Pirk. Wife of the late John H. Schnelle. Born January 11, 1912 in New Haven, CT. Graduate of The Normal School in New Haven, CT where she was the pianist for The Orchestra. Her teaching career spanned nearly 40 years, teaching in New Haven, Cromwell and Durham CT. She retired from Brewster school in Durham, CT where she was loved by her students and received many thank you letters from her students as well as parents throughout the years. A life-long member of Alice Chapter # 76 Eastern Star, Hamden, CT as well as a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven, CT. She was active in The Mother's Club as well as Lutheran Church Women, serving as a past president. Survived by a daughter, Joann S. Mourt (James) of Northford, CT, a son John H. Schnelle, Jr. (Mary) of Lynnfield, MA, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Brothers Robert and Paul A. Pirk predeceased her. A funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 600 Shepard Ave., Hamden, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th, with the Rev. Owen Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. BEECHER & BENNETT, Hamden is in charge of funeral arrangements. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Quality of Life Fund, c/o Masonic Home and Hospital, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492.
