MERIDEN-Eva A. Paoli, 84, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 at Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of Joseph L. Paoli for 62 years. Daughter of the late Albert E. and Margaret Fleming Clarke, Eva was born in New York City on June 18, 1933. She graduated from high school in NYC and worked as a stenographer in the New York courts. Eva lived in the city until 1972, when she moved to Meriden. She started working in retail at G. Fox & Co. and later Filene’s, working her way up to and retiring as an assistant manager after 25 years. She was the recipient of many sales awards and was a member of the Diamond Club for many years. Eva loved going out to lunch with her “Lunch Bunch” girls and enjoyed going on many cruises with her Elk friends. She was an avid reader and an avid duckpin bowler. Eva was a member of St. Laurent Church, Meriden and later became a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden. She was known for being a very classy lady with a sweet and sassy personality. Eva was kind to everyone and always put other people’s needs ahead of her own. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eva is survived by her daughters Eva Marie Priola of Suffield, and Jennifer Beegan (Kevin) of Meriden; son Joseph Paoli (Cheryl) of Meriden; grandchildren Brandon and Keith Priola, Michael, Tyler, and Dalton Kamens, and Cassandra Paoli; and great-grandchildren Jackson and Berkeley Priola. She is also survived by her siblings Kathleen Gomez of Valley Cottage, NY, Albert Clarke (Barbara) of Valley Stream, NY, and Ann McGuire (Peter) of Coral Creek, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Eva’s funeral service will begin on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden. Burial will follow in the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eva’s family on Sunday, November 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations in Eva’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
