Hamden - Evelyn G. Remington, 83 of Valley Rd., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at her home. She was born July 2, 1923 in Hamden a daughter of the late George H. and Grace (Dorman) Remington. She was a bookbinder for Peck Book Bindery of West Haven retiring in 1985. She was a lifelong resident of Hamden and a lifetime member of the Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Hamden. Evelyn was the oldest of five sisters, two of whom survive her, Bernice I. McNeil-DeBaise of North Haven and Lucille B. Jedlicka of New Milford. She also leaves her beloved cat, Cutie Pie, five nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by two sisters, Beulah Dossa and Eunice Remington. The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 4 at 9:30 a.m. from Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden and at 10:30 a.m. at the Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 565 Shepard Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 5-7 p.m. Contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Deacon's Fund, 565 Shepard Ave. Hamden, CT 06514 or to the Conn. Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.

  1. Dear Lucille, Bernice and families, Rita and I extend our sympathies to you on the passing of Evelyn. We know that you will miss her. But we rejoice that Evelyn is now with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in glory. We are sorry that we cannot be at her funeral. We have commitments that cannot changed. We want you to know that we loved Evelyn and will miss seeing her when we visit Westminster Church. Her ready smile, her cheerful demeanor, and her willingness to jump in and work have been a part of Westminster Church for many, many years.
