Evelyn M. Gilmore, 89, wife of the late George H. Gilmore, of Wallingford, passed away on February 21, 2014 at Masonic Healthcare. She was born in North Haven on February 29, 1924 to the late Arthur and Mary Bohan Mansfield. Evelyn is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur & Cynthia Mansfield of Wallingford and Kenneth & Helen Mansfield of South Burlington,VT, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence Lewis and Margaret Davis. Evelyn was a resident of North Haven for 84 years until recently moving to Wallingford. She was an active parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church in North Haven where she was a member of the Women's Guild and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rainbowgirls. Most of Evelyn's career was spent as a secretary at the Law Office of Wiggin & Dana. When Evelyn wasn't working or attending a church function, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the staff on Central 3 at the Masonic Home for taking such good care of Evelyn, their kindness will always be remembered. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Haven, on Monday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Monday morning before the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Contributions in Evelyn's memory may be sent to St. John's Church Episcopal Church, 3 Trumbull Place, North Haven, CT 06473.
