Evelyn Hazel Curran

Evelyn Hazel Curran, 101, of Mount Carmel Ave, North Haven, passed away July 23, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1906 in Washington, D.C. to the late Frank Riggins and Hazel Moye Hollingshead. She was raised and spent most of her life in Chevy Chase, MD and worked for over 25 years at the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. During World War II she was actively involved in bring solace to soldiers and their families both in her work at the American Red Cross and as a hospital volunteer. She retired as a stenographer in 1971. After her retirement she continued to care for the elderly and sick in her neighborhood and for her family. Evelyn leaves her daughter Dr. Jo Ann Parikh of North Haven and her husband Dr. George Parikh, grandchildren, Dr. Leila Binder of Yorktown, VA and her husband Christopher, and Dr. Nimmi Sharma of Hamden and her husband Narendra and her great-grandchildren, Steven Christopher Binder, Michael Scott Binder, Annabeth Evelyn Binder all of Virginia and Isabel Chandra Sharma of North Haven. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday (TODAY), July 24th at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
