Ferdinand E. “Fred” Auger, Jr., age 84, of Branford passed away July 17, 2023. Fred, also known as Corky, was born in New Haven on November 28, 1938, a son of the late Ferdinand E. and Vilma (Borsari) Auger, Sr. He was predeceased by his first wife Jean (Barber) Auger in 1983. Fred is survived by his wife Carol (Carlson) Auger; his daughter Adrienne Auger of Waterbury; stepdaughter Emily Hansen; stepson Timothy Hansen; and three step-grandchildren; brother Donald Auger of Cheshire; niece Jacqueline Auger; and nephews Alex and Donny Auger, Jr. Fred was a 1957 graduate of Hamden High School, where he was captain of the track team, and a graduate of Bryant College. He was a US Army Veteran, serving 3 years in Japan. Fred was a resident of Hamden most of his life, moving to Branford in 1988. He was Comptroller for Standard Beef Company for 35 years, retiring in 2007. Fred enjoyed bass fishing, camping, birdwatching and was an accomplished wood carver, specializing in songbirds.
Funeral Service and Burial with Military Honors will be private with his family. Contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to Artis Senior Living of Branford, 814 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405. Arrangements are in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden.
