Fernando B. Andrada, 75, of Shepard Avenue, Hamden, passed away on March 3, 2007 with his family by his side. He was the loving widower of Mrs. Tuulikki I. Andrada, who recently passed away in September of 2006. They had been married for more than 34 years. Mr. Andrada was born December 26, 1931, in Manila, Philippines, to Honofre A. and Juliana B. Andrada. In 1960, Mr. Andrada emigrated from the Philippines to the United States of America, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1980. Mr. Andrada received his bachelor's degree in 1954 from the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. He went on to earn a master's degree in architecture in 1962 from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Mr. Andrada practiced architecture from 1956 until he retired in 2006. In 1962, he joined the firm of Eero Saarinen & Associates, which later became known as Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates, of Hamden, and spent the majority of his career there. He also practiced for several years with JCJ Architecture in Hartford. When not practicing architecture, Mr. Andrada was passionately interested in jazz music, history, technology, and travel. Mr. Andrada leaves behind a daughter, Fay Andrada, of New York, and a son, Leo Andrada, of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his brother-in-law's family, Seppo, Leena, and Jori Valli, and Mira Sorvari, all of Lahti, Finland, where Mr. Andrada's wife was born. Private funeral arrangements have been arranged through BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
