Small, Florence H. In the Hospital of St. Raphael, Aug. 4, 2004, Florence Haynes Small, 78, of 79 Crofton St., New Haven, wife of the late Sam Small. Mother of Sam Small, Jr., James Small, Shepardine Small, Jeanette Culbreath, Charles Small, Sarah Ann Small, Mary Hoffman, John Lawrence, Victoria Nobles and the late Clara Speicher. Sister of Emma Heyward, Louise Linnen, Jacob Haynes all of Georgetown, SC, Almena Fulcher of Oriental, NC and Viola Hiles, of NYC. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Lillie Lawrence and a brother, Esau Haynes. She was a resident of New Haven since 1958 and became a baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975. She was a member of the Quinnipiac Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in East Haven. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all those that knew her. Florence was born in Georgetown, SC, Feb. 19, 1926 a daughter of the late Johnny and Victoria Canteen Haynes. Funeral service Wed., Aug. 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Wed. from 9 - 11 a.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
