Florence M. Fletcher, 96, lifelong resident of Hamden, wife of the late Fred Fletcher, Sr., passed away on June 1, 2012. Born in New Haven, January 4, 1916 to the late Michael and Hannah Dunn McDermott. She is survived by her three sons, Fred and his wife Carol, Stephen, and Dennis Fletcher; grandson, Mike Fletcher; granddaughter, Jennifer Daniel and her husband Randy; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters. Florence was a member of the Catholic Guild through Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She greatly enjoyed spending time in her garden. Roses were her favorite but she had a wide range of other beautiful flowers and enjoyed watching the humming birds in her gardens. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who will be greatly missed. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Monday, June 4th at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden at 10:00 a.m. followed by her burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may visit with her family on Sunday evening from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

We can only hope that we live our lives in the same manner that Aunt Florence lived. Through all the tears of sadness comes a ray of sunshine, the memories of happy times that we share of her.
