Frances Merritt Clark, 101, of Meriden, loving wife of the late Theodore B. Clark, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022 at The Arden House in Hamden. She was born in Greenwich on April 3, 1920, a daughter of the late Clarence and Caroline M. Merritt, and is survived by her daughters; Carol Post and her husband Thomas of Branchville, NJ, and Janice Gawlik of Meriden. She is also survived by her grandson Thomas Post and his wife Dana of Brocton, NY, 4 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Theodore, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Frank Gawlik. Frances was a graduate of the Guilmont Organ School in New York City, where she studied with Willard Irving Nevins. She also attended the Professional Organists School at Choate, and was a member of the Hartford Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She served as organist of the Lyons Plains Episcopal Church, Weston, Chatterton Hill Congregational Church, White Plains, NY, East Avenue Methodist Church, East Norwalk, Saugatuck Congregational Church, Nichols Methodist Church, Trumbull, and most recently First United Methodist Church in Meriden for 30 years, of where she was also a devoted member. Frances used all of her gifts and talents to the Glory of God. She touched everyone she met.
Friends are invited to visit with Frances’s family on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, 159 East Main St., Meriden. A service celebrating her life will follow in the church at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be privately held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to The Music Fund of First United Methodist Church, Meriden, CT in memory of Frances Clark.

Condolences to Francis family.
Francis was a wonderful person. Her friendship with my mom went on for decades. Our parents were best of friends. She and I corresponded for over 15 years. We shared memories of Cove Ave, Betts Island and the boat “Danelle”.
