North Haven- George A. Klaiber, 88, devoted husband of 63 years of Evelyn Toelle Klaiber of 45 Beechwood Dr. passed away January 30, 2004. Mr. Klaiber was born in New Haven, a son of the late George A. and Gladys Fletcher Klaiber and lived in North Haven since 1958. He was employed at the N.Y. N.H. & Hartford Railroad in the operations dept. as a stenographer, and secretary to the Vice President, and later was supervisor of contract administration for Penn Central when he retired in 1972, after 37 years with the railroad. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for 74 years and was Superintendant of the Sunday School, on the Church Council, and had been Chairman of the Usher Committee. Mr. Klaiber served in the US Army Air Corps. during WW II as a sargeant with the 389th Fighter Squadron in Europe. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen K. Golden and her husband Douglas, of Hamden, a son The Rev. G. Robert Klaiber and his wife, Joan, of Mounts View, MN, 4 grandchildren; Paul R. Klaiber and his wife Tanya, Karin A. Berg, and her husband Jeffrey, all of Minniapolis, MN, Leigh M. Golden and Kent B. Golden of Hamden, and a great grandson Owen R. Berg. A special thank you to the entire staff at the Arden House Harborside Health Care for their care & compassion. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday Feb. 3. at 11 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of Orange & Wall St, New Haven. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave Monday from 4-7PM and AT CHURCH Tuesday from 10-11AM Private Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mr. Klaiber's memory may be sent to the Trintiy Lutheran Church, 292 Orange St. New Haven, CT 06511.
