George Hunter Sr., age 92, of New Haven, passed away on July 29, 2018 at Arden House, Hamden. He was born in New York, NY on April 25, 1926 to the late Isabelle Galting Sharp. George is survived by his daughters; Dianna Parish (Jesse), Patricia Parker, Deborah Hunter, Denise White, Kim Johnson (Raymond), Charlene Holloway (Larry), and Mary Frances Williams, sons; George Hunter Jr. (Phyllis), Edward Hunter, Gregory Hunter (Laurie), Raymond Hunter, and Sidney Parker (Brenda), and step-children; Clifford and Jeffrey Hunter, Dessie Ann Davis, Stefanie Goines, Rocshay Jasper and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Dessie M. Parker, second wife Nannie Mae Hunter, and stepson Phillip Hunter. After honorably serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, George went on to work for the State of Connecticut as a U.S. Marshal for over 30 years until his retirement. In his free time he was an active member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge, and the Knights of St. Patrick in New Haven. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating George's life on Thursday August 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
