WALLINGFORD - George I. Mason, Sr., 67, beloved husband of Alleane Peitersen Mason, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Born in Brighton, MA on July 30, 1939, he was the son of Marjory Gay of Meriden and his late stepfather, Floyd A. Gay. He lived in Meriden for most of his life and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, aboard the USS Newport News. He worked as a truck driver for thirty-five years, the last twenty-five years for A.P.A. Transport until he retired. He was a member of Teamsters Local 677. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sherri (Mason) Blaisdell and her husband, Charles Blaisdell III of Cromwell; two sons, George I. Mason, Jr. of Wallingford and Allen C. Mason and his fiancee, Simmynora Dryxler of Middletown; a brother, Floyd T. Gay of Meriden; a brother-in-law, Jens Peitersen and his wife, Barbara of Kickland, WA; six grandchildren, Carol Mason, Christian Mason, Bryce Blaisdell, Kelly Mason, Zackary Blaisdell and Christopher Mason; two nephews, David Darin of Richmond, VA and Jens Peitersen of Kickland, WA and two nieces, Joann Darin Stempeck of North Haven and Paulette Denman of Kickland, WA; two aunts, Pearl Webster of Hyde Park, NY and Lillian Sutkowski of Middletown; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Helen Peitersen, his sister-in-law, Janet P. Darin and his father, Frank Mason. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m.

You learn from the stories that you hear from him and from the Love that he shared with the two of you.
