George J. Barba, Sr., age 91, of East Haven, passed away on January 1, 2013. George was the husband of the late Josephine DeStefano Barba. Born in Branford on May 11, 1921 he was a son of the late George G. Barba & Gabriella Barbieri Barba; brother of the late Dominic, Vincent & Robert Barba, Evelyn Weted & Rose Barron. He is survived by his son George J. Barba, Jr. and several nieces & nephews. George was retired from the Atlantic Wire Company where he worked as a Millwright; he also was an auctioneer since 1947. A WWII Army Veteran he was a member of the Improved Order of the Redman. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, Jan, 4th from 8:30 to 9:30 AM and may attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent dePaul Church, East Haven. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.

  3. Our Deepest Sympathy to the family. We had the pleasure of being George’s neighbors for many years and was saddened to hear of his death. I remember him always working in the yard, gardening, even planted tomato plants close the fence so our dog can have her own plants to eat!!!   4. As Georges homecare nurse for VNA Community Healthcare,sharing in Georges journey was everlasting.We became great friends.As did my mom Addie.
