In CT Hospice, Branford, Feb. 17, 2004, George Valentine, 84, husband of 62 years to Marjorie McFarland Valentine of 75 Washington Ave., Hamden. Father and father-in-law of Sandi and Jack Cunningham of Wallingford and Douglas W. Valentine of Brooklyn, CT and grandfather of Ross B. Cunningham of Wallingford. George was born in New Haven, Nov. 29, 1919, son of the late George W. and Mary Nesbit Valentine. He was an Army Veteran having served during WW II. He was a banker and was in charge of collections at the former Bank of Boston where he worked for over 25 years. Earlier in his career he was vice-president of the former Valentine & Kolb Jewelers. George was an active member of Adelphi-Momauguin Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Mystic Chapter #20 O.E.S., and was the manager and started the luncheon program at the Commons of Mill River Club. George was also an avid bowler for many years. Funeral service Thurs., Feb. 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Dunbar United Church of Christ. Interment in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dunbar United Church of Christ, 419 Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden, CT 06518. BEECHER & BENETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden in care of arrangements.
