In Branford, Dec. 30, 2002, Gertrude Ryan Hoffstadt, 87, wife of Burton F. Hoffstadt, of Green Hill Rd., Bethany formerly of Derby Ave., West Haven, mother of Karen Stephens and her husband, Dennis of Bethany, and Kevin Hoffstadt and his wife Elaine of Milford, grandmother of Amy Sudmyer, Jonathan Stephens, Tyson and Ryan Hoffstadt and step-grandmother of Rachel and Joseph McDaniel. She was predeceased by brothers, Francis, George, James and Edward Ryan and sisters, Mildred King and Katherine Willett. Born in New Haven, April 21, 1915 a daughter of the late Edward & Catherine Rourke Ryan. She had worked as a secretary to Drs. Snyder and Montano of New Haven for 25 years. She was a member of Trinity Church on the Green, New Haven for 50 years, a member of the Irish Roundtable of Hamden, the Paugassett Club of Orange, Republican Women's Club of West Haven and the St. Raphael's Women's Auxilliary. Funeral service will be Sat., Jan. 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church on the Green, 152 Temple St., New Haven. Friends may call Sat. from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Interment in Orange Center Cemetery, Orange.
