Gladys A. Knudsen, 89, formerly of CT, ME, NY and lastly Jacksonville, NC, died peacefully on Wed., April 3, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Bror Werner and Ida May Ahlstrand, born in the Bronx, New York, NY, and the widow of the late Walter G. Knudsen.
Gladys was predeceased by her son, Werner Carl Knudsen, and 2 brothers, Carl A. Ahlstrand and Anders H. Ahlstrand. She leaves 2 daughters, Gladys K. Knudsen of Rockwood and Greenville, ME and Barbara K. McFarland-Shields of North Haven, CT and St. Petersburg, FL, and a son, Walter K. (Amy) Knudsen, formerly of NY, now of Jacksonville, NC. Also, 5 grandchildren, Deborah Knudsen of Arizona, Walter R. (Lunden) Knudsen of North Carolina, LaToya (Tyler) McFarland-Shea, Quinten (Meghan) Knudsen of Utah and Leslie (David) Riviera of Arizona, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with her family on Friday, April 12th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden, CT. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery in Hamden, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’s memory may be made to Animal Haven, 89 Mill Rd., North Haven, CT 06473.
