Grace M. Pascarella, 88, of North Haven passed away August 29, 2022 after a brief illness.
Beloved mother of John L. Pascarella and his wife Tracey of Hamden and James Pascarella of Hamden, sister of Madeline (Paul) Larson of FL and Alice (Brian) O’Connor of Westbrook. Loving grandmother of John R. Pascarella and his wife Kristi, Robert Pascarella and his wife Lakshmi, and Louis Pascarella; great-grandmother of John Christopher and Avery Grace Pascarella. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Pascarella, along with brothers Thomas Friello and Joseph Friello. She also had 11 nieces and nephews.
Grace was born in New Haven October 2, 1933, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Marianna Santacroce Friello. She received an RN degree from the St. Raphael School of Nursing, a BA degree from Southern CT State College, and her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. She was employed as an RN at St Raphael Hospital, then as an elementary school teacher in the Town of Hamden. In the 1960s into the 1970s she enjoyed being the Nurse at Camp Hemlocks, a summer camp for handicapped children and adults. Upon retirement from Hamden Public Schools, Grace taught computer science at St. Rita School. In recent years she was an administrative assistant in the office of Dr. Maria Stack. Also, she was very active in Divine Mercy Parish (St. Rita’s). Grace was recognized by the bishop with the distinguished Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation in March 2018 for her lifelong service to the Parish.
Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Tuesday, Sept. 6th from 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rita’s Church-Divine Mercy Parish of St. Paul VI on Wednesday, Sept. 7th at 10:00 a.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Rita’s Church-Divine Mercy Parish of St. Paul VI.
