Meriden - Helen Caffery Eddy, 99.5 years old of CT. Baptist Home , formerly of New Haven went to join her love, Elly on Sunday, October 3, 2010. She was born in New Haven on May 26, 1922 the daughter of the late George and Annie(Hennessy) Caffrey. Helen spent many years with her son and husband entertaining people in vaudville shows. After the birth of her son she joined SNET and worked there for more than 35 years. Helen loved family get togethers and holidays. Her favorite was St.Patrick's Day. Singing to her family songs from her Irish childhood. She also was an avid telephone pioneer and loved traveling with friends. Helen's family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank-you to the nursing staff of the CT. Baptist Home. They too such loving care of their 'Irish Princess'. Thank-you to all. She is survived by her son George B. Eddy and his wife Cynthia . Eddy, three beloved grandchildren, Seth J. Eddy and his wife Wanda of Meriden, Peter V. Eddy and his wife Mary of New Britain and Sarah J. Eddy Davitt of Jeffersonville, VT, five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Braeden, Chloe, Megan and Emma as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters; Margaret and Elizabeth Eddy, Anna Hawks and a very close cousin Marie Harrison. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 7pm at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm, prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Helen's memory may be made to Camp Claire, P.O.Box 702, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
