Helen Louise Nellums

Helen L. Nellums, age 95, of Wallingford, passed away on October 15, 2018. Born in New Haven on August 17, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Chris & Louise (Mott) Roman. Helen was the widow of Ben C. Nellums; mother of Linda Ramadei of Wallingford, Dorothy Shumway & her husband Bruce of Cedarburg, WI and Fred Nellums & his wife Joellen of Wallingford; sister of the late Veron Roman and Dorothy Fenimore; grandmother of Kevin Ramadei, Dr. Christopher Shumway, Jason Shumway, Keri Shumway and great grandmother of Tyler, Gavyn, Anna, Piper, Gus, Edan, Brandon & Madison. Helen was a resident of Hamden most of her life. She was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Post #9 for many years. Helen enjoyed her crafts, sewing, card games and was always active in her church. But most of all she loved the time she shared with her children, grand and great grandchildren whenever she could. Friends may visit with her family Saturday, October 20th from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden and may attend her Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Saturday at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen's Church, 400 Ridge Rd, Hamden. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
