Helena M. Jourdan Boutillier, age 83 of Meriden, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Arthur Dudley Boutillier, Jr of Meriden. She was born in Waterbury on November 11, 1927 to the late Albert S. and Genevieve Carney Jourdan. Helena graduated from the Gateway School in New Haven and went on to attend Swarthmore College in PA and then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph College in Hartford. She married Arthur at St. Mary's Church in Branford on September 3, 1949 and then resided in Meriden. Helena worked at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital Credit Union for many years. She was very active in both the community and Holy Angels Church in South Meriden. Helena was a member of the Junior Women's Club, having served as treasurer and recording secretary for many years. She enjoyed being a member of the Catholic Women's Circle, was a Girl Scout Leader and served on the Scholarship Committee for the Castle Craig Chapter 4644 of AARP. She also did volunteer work at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital for many years. In addition to her husband, Helena is survived by her children Diane Cooper and her husband David of SC, Patrice Smith and her husband Robert of Berlin, Richard Boutillier and his wife Donna of Kensington, and Jocelyn Knox of CO; five grandchildren, Melanie and Matthew Cooper, Jourdan and Jacqueline Smith and Justin Knox; one great grandson, Jakob Cooper; many nieces and nephews and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Albert R. Jourdan and her sister Frances J. Holmstrom. A Private Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, August 23rd at BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden. Burial took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
