MERIDEN - Henry Lawrence Morehouse, 101, died Wednesday Dec. 13, 2000 at Skyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford. He was the husband for sixty-two years of Bernice Cadieux Morehouse. He was born in Meriden June 18, 1899, a son of the late Andrew C. and Charlotte Smith Morehouse. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, stationed on the USS Bridgeport in Brest, France. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor in March 2000. He was a member of American Legion Post #45 and had been self-employed as a heating contractor. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Meriden. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Martha and John McCarthy of Lake Forest, CA; two sons, Lawrence Morehouse and his wife Stella of Walllingford; Henry L. Morehouse of Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Morehouse of Redding, CA; eight grandchildren, Steven Morehouse of Redding, CA, Valerie Morehouse of Los Angeles, CA Michael Morehouse of Wallingford, Peter Morehouse of Boston, MA, Megan McCarthy and Elizabeth McCarthy, both of Lake Forest, CA, John Henry Morehouse and Christian Morehouse, both of Canton, CT; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard D. Morehouse; four brothers, Walter Morehouse, Andrew Morehouse, Robert Morehouse and Richard Morehouse and two sisters, Charlotte Curtis and Edna Batchelder. A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. at Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Kenneth Frazier will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Antique Veterans. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
