Hon. Thomas J. Giaimo, 78, husband of Geraldine Antonucci Giaimo of Cheshire, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Born in New Haven on July 7, 1937 to the late Sebastian and Mary Onofrio Giaimo. Loving father of Maryanne (Ralph) Pisani of Berlin, James (Nancy) Giaimo of Fairfield, Gerald (Sarah Aldrich) Giaimo of New Haven; adoring grandfather to, Maria Pisani, Caroline, Kristen, Clare, Cecilia, Francine, Michael, and Abigail Giaimo; brother of, Joseph Giaimo, of East Haven; daughter-in-law, Sarah Giaimo of Freeport, IL. Predeceased by his son, Paul Giaimo. Mr. Giaimo graduated from Notre Dame H.S. in 1954, The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1958, and the University of Connecticut Law School. He practiced law for 40 years, and served as Judge of Probate for the Town of East Haven from 1967-1998. Active in the East Haven Democratic Party and in town government, he served as a member of the Democratic Town Committee from 1965-96, and was an inaugural recipient of the party's first annual 'John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award,' presented to local individuals who have exemplified democratic ideals and a devotion to public service. He focused his retirement years on religious service and was proudly ordained a Deacon, serving at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in East Haven Friends are invited to visit with his family from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 16th at BEECHER & BENNETT , 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 17th at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment to follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thomas's memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Resource Center of CT, 1261 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479.
