n Stratford, January 21, 2001. Howard Charles Hill , formerly of Whitney Ave., Hamden. Husband of the late Hazel Pabst Hill, to whom he had been married for 74 years. Born in Milford, CT. on January 14, 1901, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Caroline Shailor Hill. He retired from the Federal Paper Board Co. (formerly the National Folding Box Co.)in 1966, after 36 years in their Product Preparation Dept.. As a boy living on the shore in Milford, he witnessed the testing of Symon Lake's Submarine in Milford Harbor. During W.W. I, while working at Winchesters, the Marine Band under the direction of John Philip Sousa, played at noon to show their appreciation for the worker's war efforts. Mr. Hill is survived by nieces, Marion Pritchard of Stratford and Joyce Rellstab of Stirling, Mass. He was predeceased by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at BEECHER AND BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE, HAMDEN on Wednesday, January 24, at 11 A.M.
