Meriden - Howard E. Blessing, 89, husband of the late Frances (Koncki) Blessing passed away on Wedneday April 8, 2009 at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was born September 3, 1919 in Meriden a son of the late William and Agnes (Schroeder) Blessing. He had worked in the tool and die department of New Departure for 38 years before retiring. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved gardening at home and at his special summer home in Maine. Howard is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and William Hall of Meriden, Deborah and John Troio of Shrewsbury, MA and Monica Blessing of Lancaster, NH, two sons and their wives, Dr. Howard and Karen Blessing of Walla Walla, WA and Gregory and Kathleen Blessing of Willington, CT and twelve adored grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Jonathan Hall, Marco and Jenna Troio, Ian and Blake Boyko, Timothy and Kim Blessing, Kristopher Blessing and Dana, Kelly and Patrick Blessing. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Howard's home companions, Moira Perkins and Janice Poirier and to his friend Eleanor Maniscalco who were so caring and compassionate. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:30am at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. The Rev. James Stoltenberg will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10am to 11:30am, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations in Howard's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Christmas in Action Fund, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. The Beecher and Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
