Isabelle D. Anderson, 80, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Walter A. Anderson passed away January 18, 2012 in Naugatuck. She was born in New Haven March 27, 1931 a daughter of the late Elbert S. and Marvis Page Downs and was a resident of Bethany and Salem, CT. Mrs. Anderson was an officer with her family's business the Automatic Milk Vending, Co. and was a life long member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, Bethany. She had served on the Board of Directors for the Bethany Historical Society, and enjoyed working to obtain oral history of Bethany from its residents. She was also a member of the New Haven Lady Lioness Club. She is survived by her children, Walter F. Anderson and his wife Kathy of New Haven, Geraldine Deyermond and her husband James of Andover, MA, Carol Johnson and husband Eric of Bethany, and David Anderson and wife Laura of Northford; grandchildren, Stacey & Kevin Anderson of New Haven, Kelly Deyermond of Andover, MA., Laura Deyermond of Lewiston, ID., Cassandra & Kayla Johnson of Bethany, and Ashley, Ryan & Kyle Anderson of Northford. She is also survived by her great-grandson Elijah Sorrells, her sister LuAnn Downs Hadzega of Naugatuck, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Anderson was predeceased by a brother Elbert N. Downs. Funeral service Monday January 23, at 11 a.m. in the First Church of Christ Congregational, 511 Amity Rd. Bethany. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 WHITNEY AVE. HAMDEN Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Interment in Carrington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Bethany Historical Society, 512 Amity Rd. Bethany, CT 06524 or the New Haven Lions Club, Charitable Trust, P.O. Box 8012, New Haven, CT 06530.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. Isabelle was such a wonderful person, Mother and Grandmother. I know that everyone will miss her greatly. I have such fond memories of her at the lake with all of her family around. I am sorry I won’t be able to make it to the funeral to convey my condolences in person but please accept my condolences. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
