In Norwich, Oct. 18, 2003, James 'Buster' Groom, 92, of Mansfield St., New Haven, husband of the late Annie Tilley Groom, father of Rosalee Givens-Howard of New Haven, Vernell Daniels of New York City, James Groom, Jr. of New Haven. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son Earl Groom and 5 sisters and 7 brothers. Born in Haywood, SC, Feb. 8, 1911 a son of the late James and Anna Richardson Groom. He had worked as a machinist at Winchester Corp. for 37 years and retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Matthews UFWB Church in New Haven since 1938. Funeral service Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends and family may call at the church Friday from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
