James Edward Bourbeau, 81, of Hamden, passed away peacefully at his home on December 28, 2021 with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield, MA on May 1, 1940 to the late Albert and Simonne (Joubert) Bourbeau. Jim was a very proud Marine, serving 6 years from 1958-1964. Jim worked for the CT Department of Motor Vehicles for over 25 years in various roles. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Gloria (Bergami) Bourbeau; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Kevin Brumleve of Cheshire, Denise and Charles Caballero of San Diego, CA, and Lori and Peter Cuticelli of Wallingford. He was especially proud of his five grandchildren: Raymond, Gregory and Colleen Brumleve, and Olivia and Sydney Cuticelli. He leaves his siblings, Annette Rogers, of Branford, Michele Bourbeau, of Chicopee, MA, Daniel Bourbeau, of Southwick, MA and Michelle Ann Davis of Chicopee, MA. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Theroux, brother-in-law, Ronald Rogers, and sister-in-law, Deborah Bourbeau. In addition to his love for antique cars and motorcycles, he was known as a jack of all trades. He was always available to anyone who needed something repaired. He was the perfect example of selflessness, assisting at any time of day or night. Jim enjoyed traveling with his family to his timeshare in Aruba, visiting Disney, cruising and exploring Europe. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge #25, American Legion Post 76 and the Marine Corps League.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden followed by burial with Military Honors at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.   3. Gloria and family I was so saddened to hear of jims passing, we work worked together for a long time, he was always smiling and talking about vacations he had taken with you. He was so proud of all his children and grand children. We were always talking about our time in the Marine Corp. He was a joy to work with and be around. He would always see me at a car show and make a bee line to me and we would talk cars. Boy did he love little sunshine his wagon. I will miss him greatly.   7. Jim was my customer since 2003 at 7-Eleven in Hamden CT. I would always look forward to seeing him and chatting with him. He was always cheerful and smiling. He was one of the nicest most genuine caring person I had an honor to know. May he Rest In Peace.
