James G. Maghery, age 66, of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden, passed away May 1, 2009 at the Midstate Medical Center. Jim is the husband of Mary Anne Burke Maghery; father of Erin Maghery of Wallingford and Denis Maghery of Lubeck, Germany; brother of the late William and Alfred Sullivan and Frances McDonough; brother in-law of Rita Sullivan of Hamden and Eileen Hart of Fort Meyers, FL. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in New Haven on June 13, 1942 he was a son of the late James G. Maghery, Sr. & Marguerite Collins Maghery. Jim served in the US Army Security Agency in Turkey & Germany. He was employed at Nutmeg International Trucks, of North Haven. He loved U-CONN Basketball, particular the Women's Team and was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved to travel and had visited Ireland, London, Paris, Germany, Austria and many locations within the US. Jim had a special love for children and children adored him. He was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden on Monday at 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 AM in the Church of St. Rita, Hamden. Friends may also visit with his family at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford.
