Janet Brown
Janet Brown, 91, of Helen St., Hamden, passed away at her home on July 15, 2008. She was born in Lowell, MA on December 31, 1916 a daughter of the late Leonard and Janet Gilmore Brown. Janet lived in New Haven and graduated from the local high school before moving to Hamden in 1946. She had worked as a machinist at Standard Tool & Die in Woodbridge. Had been an active member of the Hamden Senior Center and enjoyed time sewing and knitting. Janet is predeceased by her brothers William Brown, Leonard Brown and Robert Brown and two nieces Betsy Ann Gordon and Janet Brown Savageau. Among her survivors are a niece Mary Ellen Brown of Hamden, nephews, Robert and Cindy Brown of Colorado Springs, CO, Leonard Brown of ME, a cousin Ethel Ann Schofield of Chelmsford, MA, two grand-nephews, Brett Savageau of Hamden, Sean and Crystal Gordon of Winchester, CA, three grand-nieces Allison Gross of Westerfield, ME, Amy (Gordon) Cleary of Ft. Belvoir, VA and Heather (Gordon) Klingelberg of Murrieta, CA. Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, July 18th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Janet's memory may be made to Trinity Church on the Green, 152 Temple St., New Haven, CT 06511. On behalf of the Pontecorvo family I would like to extend our sincerest sympathies. Our family were former neighbors for many years. Janet was a quiet, sweet, and friendly neighbor, always watching out for us .kids., and quick to say hello, as she walked to Sanzones, She was quite a lady!
