Janet Setaro Fitch, 95, passed away at the Hospital of St. Raphael on August 30, 2021. Born in New Haven on May 21, 1926 to the late Michael and Agnes McDonough Setaro. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Ret. Hamden Police Captain Harold F. Fitch, Jr. She grew up in New Haven before moving to Hamden, where she and Harold raised their family. For 45 years, Janet was a school crossing guard in Hamden. She loved her job and enjoyed seeing all the children. In her spare time she looked forward to bowling and Bingo with her friends. She was an avid Yankees fan and also enjoyed cheering on the UCONN women’s basketball team. After she and her husband retired, they spent winters in Florida and summers in Connecticut.
Janet will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kathleen Westervelt of Hamden and Debra Capasso of Venice, FL; grandchildren, Rob, Nicole, and Colleen; great-grandchildren, Colton, Breanna, Jordan, Tali, and Taylor; and great-great granddaughter, Melody. Predeceased by her six sisters and three brothers.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Janet’s life on September 3, 2021 in Our Lady of Mt.
