John A. Sperry passed away peacefully on Thursday, February, 23, 2012. He was the loving husband of 46 years to the late Jean Corcoran Sperry. Born on January 22, 1931 in New Haven to the late George and Katherine Dunn Sperry. Predeceased by his daughter Marjory (Blake) Palmer, son-in-law Stephen Ziegler and a brother George Sperry Jr. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his loving daughters Jean Ziegler, Newark, DE, Rhonda (John) Northrop, Wallingford, Darcia (Bert) Siclari, West Haven, and Tammy Sperry, New Haven; sons John 'Jack' Ret. Det. WHPD (Kimberly) Sperry Jr. Jacksonville, NC, Burton (Vasi) Sperry, Guilford and Albert Sperry, St.Louis, MO. Thirteen grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Marie Surprise and brother Robert Sperry. John was a life time resident of West Haven where he loved the beach and his garden. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army and was a Senior Pressman at City Printing of North Haven for 39 years. John was a devoted family man having taken care of his family as well as many foster children over the years. A Funeral Service will take place at BEECHER & BENNETT- TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven on Tuesday February 28th at 11:00 AM followed by interment in Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may visit Monday evening 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions in John's memory may be sent to DCF, Department of Children & Families, Commissioner's Office, 505 Hudson St., Hartford, CT 06106.
