John “Bruce” Mongillo, age 71, of New Britain CT passed away peacefully on May 25th 2017. He was born in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, MA on May 9, 1946 to his late parents Robert P. and Hilda R. (Coutinho) Mongillo. Bruce is survived by his wife Helen F. Mongillo, daughter Denise Mongillo, sons David and Jason Mongillo, and daughter-in-law Michelle Cameron. Grandchildren, Jessica LaFrance and husband Josh LaFrance, Anthony Mongillo, Chandler Mongillo, and Blake Breglia. His brothers, Robert and Paul Mongillo. Bruce was predeceased by his son John R. Mongillo. Formerly of Southington, he was a resident of New Britain most of his life. He is a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. Bruce was a heavy equipment operator employed for over 20 years by General Paving and Construction Company. Bruce touched many people's lives with his contagious smile, sense of humor, and laughter. He will be missed deeply, but his life will be forever honored, though his loving family. Family and friends are invited to his Graveside Ceremony with Military Honors on Thursday, June 1st, at 12:00 noon at Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain. Following please join his family in a celebration of his life at St. Jean Baptiste Society, 209 Smalley St., across from the cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden.
