John F. Orzolek, Ret. HPD, age 87, of Hamden, passed on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Beloved husband to Dianne Heywood Orzolek. He was born in New Haven on August 23, 1928, a son of the late John & Mary Milewska Orzolek. Loving father of Linda & her husband Dave DeSanti of Durham and Mark Orzolek of Hamden; grandfather of Lisa Werdann & her husband Brian and David DeSanti & his fiancée Kaitlin and great-grandfather of Cameron, Brian & Alyssa Werdann. John was predeceased by his sisters, Frances Blasiak and Ann Pivarnik. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the SS Juneau during WWII. John was a Police Officer for the Town of Hamden for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Hamden Elks #2224 and the Laurel View Golf Association. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Wednesday, Jan. 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with his Prayer Service to be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will be Private. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the North Haven Animal Shelter, 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
