John H. Evans

John H. Evans, Jr. loving husband of 52 years of Margaret Mayer Evans of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, passed away Aug.19, 2004. Father of Susan Marre, and her husband Richard Marre of Halifax, MA., Barbara Evans and her husband Andrew Otis of NYC, and the late John H. Evans, III, grandfather of Michael Marre, brother of Arlene Civitelli of North Haven and the late Raymond, Nina and Lucille Evans. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was born in Hamden January 19, 1922 a son of the late John H. and Grace Barber Evans, Sr. and resided in Cheshire for 30 years before moving to Wallingford in 1985. Mr. Evans was employed by the TEK Bearing Co. for many years prior to retirement in 1985. He was a graduate of the University of New Haven and served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Day Spring Lodge # 30, A.F. & A. M. of Hamden, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Pyramid Shrine and was a Past Patron of Alice Chapter # 76 O.E.S. of Hamden. Funeral service Sat., August 21 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Masonic service by Day Spring Lodge # 30 of Hamden Sat. at 9:45 a.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
