Joseph Beebe, 92, of Hamden, passed away at Gardner Heights Healthcare in Shelton, Thursday, January 29, 2015 after a long illness. Born July 26, 1922 in New Haven, son of the late Clarence P. and Anna Wartmann Beebe. He was predeceased by sisters, Irma Beck, Bernice Bowman, and Martha Elder; brothers, Clarence and Richard Beebe. Joe is survived by his daughter, Susan Skiparis and her husband Alan of Beacon Falls; son, Joseph Beebe and his wife Lisa of Huron, OH; grandchildren Patrick Beebe of Columbus, OH, Jonathan Beebe of New York City, Laura Beebe of Huron, OH and many nieces and nephews. Joe was a veteran of WWII, serving as a tail gunner in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a tool and die maker for 44 years at Winchester's retiring in 1984. After he retired he worked at the Hamden Rink and Laurel View Country Club as a starter. Joe loved sports and was a lifelong fan of the Yankees and NY Giants and was an accomplished fast-pitch softball player in New Haven in the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Joe was a long time member of the New Haven Elks Lodge # 25 and enjoyed golf and bowling with his many friends and fishing with his brother Clarence. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21st in Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave, Hamden at 10:00 A.M. followed by burial with Military Honors in All Saints Cemetery.
