Joseph C. Gargano, 87, of Hamden, husband of the late Joan (Sheard) Gargano, passed away at the Lord Chamberlain Center in Stratford on October 5, 2021. Born in New Haven October 30, 1933, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Clara DePino Gargano. Beloved father of Kathy (Ronald) Bodle of Guilford, Edward (Maria) Gargano of North Haven, Mark (Leslie) Gargano of Brandon, FL, and James (Jena) Gargano of Middletown. Grandfather of David (Chi), Edward Jr., Joseph, Matthew, Natalie, Jazzmine, and Jesse Gargano. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Gargano, his sister Terri Amore, and many nieces and nephews. For many years, Joseph served his community as a City of New Haven firefighter. He greatly enjoyed fishing and crabbing, and cooking for his family.
Joseph’s family would like to thank the staff of the 4th Floor, and also the 3rd Floor at the Lord Chamberlain Center for their loving care.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Friday, October 8th at 10:00 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Whitney Ave., Hamden. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with his family at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 7th, from 5-7 p.m. Contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehab Center, 7003 Main St., Stratford, CT 06614.
