Joyce Westfort Burbidge, 84, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Masonic Healthcare Center after a long illness. She was born on March 4, 1932 in Meriden to the late Louis J. and Lena Tyler Westfort. Joyce retired from the City of Meriden Department of Transportation. Joyce enjoyed camping and traveling, and especially loved spending time at the beach. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Labbe (Mt. Dora, FL), her brother Richard Westfort (Carol) and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her longtime friend Mae McDonald and her children, Kathena, Linda, Wayne Jr., and Zina, who were Joyce's extended family. She will be missed by her beloved dog 'Macduff.' Joyce was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Clifford Kroeber and her brother-in-law, Robert Labbe. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden from 10-11 am on Friday, January 27, 2017. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

  1. Joy was my neighbor and i miss her as she was a wonderful person and i am so glad i got to talk to her on Xmas day. I still can’t believe that she is gone. She will be missed. Condolences to my neighbor and Joy’s longtime friend Mae and to the family and friends of Joy. Also to Macduff who loved Joy . She was a great lady!!

    and she was the best school bus driver for our daughter Amanda.

    My mother Betty Somerset and Joyce always had a great time when

    they were together. She is in our prayers. Sorry we couldn’t make funeral as we are still in Florida.
