Kenard Pierce Himmel 'Kenny', 83, of North Haven, formerly of Cheshire, loving husband of over 40 years to the late Virginia 'Ginny' Miller Himmel, passed away on April 30, 2018. He was born in New Haven on May 11, 1934 to the late Isidore and Lillian Pierce Himmel. Kenny is survived by Deborah Ferguson and her husband the late Robert Ferguson, David Miller and his wife Sally, Robin Curcio and her husband Mark, Gary Miller and his wife Laura, Alison Crowe and her husband William; great-nieces and nephews Kyle Miller, Maxwell and Samantha Curcio, Bailey, Kaitlyn, and Colin Crowe, and Jamie Wile. He also leaves his dear friends Thomas and Betty Doherty, and was predeceased by his brother Harold Himmel and sister Charlotte Goldfarb. After high school Kenny went on to honorably serve in the US Army and Auxiliary State Police. He also was co-owner of Himmel Brothers Company with his brother Harold. Kenny's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the SICU Unit at the YNHH-St. Raphael Campus for their extraordinary care for Kenny over the last week. Friends are invited to visit with Kenny's family on Wednesday May 2 from 5-7pm in Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden. A service celebrating his life will take place following the visitation at 7pm. Interment with full military honors will be held on Friday May 4 at 11:30am in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenny's memory may be made to CT Dept. of Veterans' Affairs, 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, Attn: T. Marzik, Community Outreach.
